We disciple teenagers to live out their faith so that every aspect of their life is conformed to Christ and points others to Christ for the glory of God.
We disciple teenagers to maturity through biblically based, theologically deep, and confessionally reformed teaching that is applied to their head, heart, and hands. This teaching comes through weekly expositional preaching, through biblically based small groups and retreats, through the supply of daily devotional material/reading plans, and from biblically-saturated leaders applying God’s Word to the lives of teenagers.
We strive to have a large Youth Ministry Team (a student:adult ratio no greater than 5:1) who are relationally invested in each other, in the teenagers of this youth ministry, and exemplify a relational style of ministry. These leaders are expected to connect with students on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings, and throughout the week through one-on-one meetings, attending extracurricular activities, through technology, and/or other means. These leaders also work diligently to connect the teenagers of this youth ministry to one another through small groups, team building activities, and simply “hanging out.”
We strive to cultivate an atmosphere where teenagers are enfolded into the Body of Christ; finding freedom, encouragement, and discipleship in the expression of their God-given personalities and the use of their God-given gifts for His glory.
We strive to disciple the God-given gifts and God-given personalities of the Youth Ministry Team, assisting them in becoming more Christlike and equipping them to effectively shepherd the teenagers of this ministry.
We strive to incorporate the broader Body of Christ into this ministry in order to cultivate an inter-generational atmosphere, to utilize the broader wisdom and gifting of the Body of Christ, and to push-back against the youth ministry becoming a “church within a church.”
We disciple teenagers to live prayerful lives as an essential aspect of their relationship with God and with others. This is accomplished through weekly prayer times on Wednesday evenings and scheduled evenings of prayer which is exemplified by the Youth Ministry Team.
We disciple teenagers to pursue Godliness and Christlikeness through the practice of daily spiritual disciplines. We provide teenagers with resources and encouragement in the pursuit of these disciplines in order that they may be zealous for good works. The Youth Ministry Team is also expected to live spiritually-disciplined lives and exemplify that lifestyle to the teenagers of this ministry.
We disciple teenagers to have a heart of loving service and a heart to reach the lost. We continually encourage them to serve and witness to those they encounter in their church, their family, their school, their community, and to the ends of the earth. We desire to disciple teenagers who are always ready to serve and always have the gospel on their lips.
We disciple teenagers to be spiritually-mature and Spirit-led leaders in their congregations NOW and in the future, using their God-given gifts for building up the Body of Christ and engaging the surrounding culture. We accomplish this by giving them leadership opportunities and responsibilities throughout their time in this ministry, empowering them to step into these roles/situations, and equipping them to be successful as they step out in faith.
Well, I’ve been slacking off a bit on the updates. Sorry. I have two excuses: First, we’ve been going, going, going from morning to night and I’ve been making sure that everyone has what they need, when they need it. It takes a lot of time, energy, and focus to accomplish that task. Second, we’ve […]
A Quick Note: I typically write the daily blog posts in the evening before I go to bed. However, I have been pretty exhausted by the time I get to bed and haven’t had the mental capacity to write the daily blog post. All of that to say, the blog posts will most likely be […]
